OUR MISSION
Physicians for Humanity operates on the principle that great physicians not only treat and educate their patients, but also walk in solidarity with those they are charged to help. It is with this in mind that we have set the following goals:
- To serve and show sincere interest in the people and cultures we are working for and with. Seeing, understanding and respecting those we serve is fundamental to the development of long-term trust.
- To practically and respectfully apply the Osteopathic (mind-body-spirit) philosophy in all medical and social interactions with the people we serve. All aspects of a patient’s well being are important – social, emotional, spiritual, psychological, and of course – physical.
- To provide ongoing opportunities for young volunteers – particularly medical students - to work with and for those people in need. Participation by ‘future physicians for humanity’ is essential to propagating physicians for humanity.
- To provide modern medical care to all who need this service, regardless of culture, religion, way of life, or geographic location.
- To develop a constantly evolving, dynamic, yet reproducible model of health care based on primary care, community involvement, basic health education and general education.
